“I’m off to Pasargadae
There I am friend with the king”
(Brazilian poet Manuel Bandeira, 1930)
The ancient gardens of Pasargad, another of Iran’s fascinating Unesco World Heritage sites, are reached easily by car from Shiraz, but we do recommend an early start for this two hour journey.
Pasargad was the site of royal gardens and palaces, and today you can also enjoy local food in the village and admire regionally produced handicrafts.
We will first visit the tomb of Cyrus the Great of Persia, the founder of the ancient empire, and when you are ready, move on to admire remains of the gardens and palaces.
The entrance fee is 200,000 Rials per person.
